Hi Pam,

No, they can't ask for payment, send them a copy of your bankruptcy order and tell them to stop hassling you.

Hi Pam.rg

I am so pleased that your bankruptcy went ok and that you have come out of the other end unscathed.
Some creditors do try it on and the debt for which you are being hounded would have been written off in the bankruptcy. Neither the creditor nor any debt collector has the right to pursue you. The best thing that I can suggest is that you inform the creditor of your discharge from bankruptcy and politely tell them that they are not allowed to harrass you and the debt has been written off. If this does not have the required effect, tell the Official Receiver that you are still being pursued.

Hi and welcome.

If they insist on continuing to contact you then send either a copy of the original bankruptcy order as Viki suggests or a copy of your discharge.

They can do nothing to you.

Hi Pam

I can only echo the comments here already. I don't get creditors contacting me anymore (and when they did I did as you have been advised)

I understand it is a criminal offence to chase a debtor after being informed they have been made BR and provided with a copy of the court order

The problem I have is 1 creditor refusing to acknowledge the BR and "reviewing my account" as they still believe they can get something from me.

Blackie's so right in that respect. I don't know what to do but I hope one day they will see sense and drop it.
