My situation-I lived in the UK for 8 years but only hold an Australian passport.
All my debt was taken while living in the UK. I am now residing in Australia permanently. Now retired and 62 years old and no assets. Can you please tell me if I am eligible to claim bankruptcy in UK?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

How long ago did you live in the UK?

As Skippy mentions it will depend on how long ago you left the UK. If it was less than 3 years ago you should be able to declare BR in the UK, if not then you will need to declare BR in Oz.

Usha

in adition to the above should you need / be able to declare bankruptcy in UK.

you have options of returning to The UK and petitioning for BR or obtaining a lasting power of attorney and nominating a thrid party to act on your behalf.

Paul and his team at reviva have an overseas department they may be able assist with LPA have a look at the link below it may help
