hi i have just made myself bankrupt and the problem i am having is with the bank and not the OR. The OR said the told them to keep my account open as they have no interest in it as dont have enough in it for them to bother with, its only for my benifits and wages. I have never owed them any money, never had overdraft so no problems there. I was informed by the OR that Santander have to allow me to withdraw any money but they wont allow me they said it was up to their bankruptcy dept, the OR sent them a fax to explain that i need the money for living expenses but they are still not having it. What else can i do? i have applied to open an account with co-op and now waiting for account numbers to come through, if that goes through ok will santander have to give me my money to transfer to that account? im in desperate need im on my own with two young children to look after, bills to pay and i just dont know where to turn next, any advice PLEASE!!!!

I think the only thing you can do, is get in their in person, demand to speak to the manager, and refuse to leave until they give you their money, Get them to put you on the phone to their bankruptcy department and demand to know why they wont release the money. I appreciate that they may have to make a few checks to make sure that you dont owe them any money in other accounts but that should not take long.

i have allready been to the bank twice and spoke to the manager, all she keeps saying is she has been trying to get hold of the bankruptcy dept all day. I will go again tomorow and see what the outcome is and i will not be moving until they sort it. Do they freeze accounts for long? as they have frozen my childrens savings accounts as well with me being trustee? i have no interest in the kids money at all i just need to know so i can withdraw that money and open another account for the kids

They shouldent freeze them at all, They dont have to keep you or them as customers, that is their right. But they should release the money to either you or the OR and as the OR has said they have no interest in the money they shouldnt be refusing to release the money
