Hi

probably need some more information regarding your position , income, expenditure, debts etc.

Also you probably need to check to see if your uni advisor is qualified to give insolvency advice

You will be able to list all of your income and outgoings in the statement of affairs. It sounds like you don't or won't have much disposable income left at the end of each month.
As long as you are hones and list everything you should not have any problems. The OR understands that you need to be able to afford to live and includes travelling costs etc.

If you want more advice either post some more questions or speak to one of the advisors listed on the left.

Good Luck with it all, it will be a relief when you have it all sorted.

Went Br 20th July 2010..countdown for 1 year.

Most people have a Co-op Cashminder account. These are very BR friendly accounts and can be opened over the phone. If you decide to apply for one just mention you are planning to declare BR and there won't be any problems.

You don't need to live near a Co-op bank as most things can be done at a Post Office.

Just wanted to have a rant for a minute, Kazj84's response is exactly why people need to complain to the BBC for the idiots they have researching their bankruptcy reports, You did hear that on the radio Kaz and had it not been for sites like this you would be still under the misinformed opinion that no banks will give you an account or that you would have to pay someone else to manage your money for you (in another piece on BBC1)simply because the mainstream media cant be bothered to find out the facts and just jump on the bandwagon

sorry, rant over

As the others have said the Co-op are very BR friendly and the Cashminder is a very good account.

The other BR friendly bank is Barclays, although they won't allow an undischarged BR to have internet banking.

It's also worth checking with your current bank (providing they aren't one of your creditors) as they may allow you to keep the account open. Although they aren't known as one of the BR friendly banks, Lloyds TSB allowed me to keep my account open.

The last option is a 'managed' account, e.g. Think Banking, as they guarantee to open an account. However, I would only recommend these accounts if you really cannot get an account anywhere else - they are expensive and they don't teach you how to budget as someone else is doing it for you.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last!
