We are just entering Bankruptcy after paying a DMP for 4.5 years, Due to a number of circumstances our household income has reduced considerabley and we cannot make the payments and live. BR was the last resort but before we start racking up debt for our secured borrowing we have decided to move quickly... We have contacted a IP who is working with us and has given us help and support. We are moving out of our property on the 25th into a rental and hope to start our new life. I'd say we have been very structured how we have approached this and already have the money through selling stuff on ebay to cover our BR. We are planning for the end of April to go to court and move on from there. If there is anyone who could advise us on our approach thus far and what we will expect going forward it will be very much apreciated.

Many Thanks

Hi hindle and welcome to the forum.

I think you are doing really well and seem to have everything covered.

Once you have been to court then you will have an interview with the OR, an IPA if you have over £20 DI for three years and you can then just get on with your lives with no worries.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.

Many thanks for the reply Jan.
We have gone through our expenditure and what you are allowed to live as a family with our IP and basically we where well short of what was considered an acceptable limit(cutting our budget to meet our fixed payments, all the things you do to keep your head above water),So the expectations are that we will not have a IPA after our allowable living costs are taken into consideration. All we want is to get back on track and live a normal life... just the covering basic family stuff will be great ....

Good luck Hindle, I wish my Wife and I was as organised, unfortunately I think we have paniced too much and buried our heads in our hands too long. I am going to speak to my bosses tomorrow to see if I can have an advance on my wages so I can submitted our BR forms...

The fees are just about to go up again as well - I believe it's £25.
