I have received a statuary demand, it states the person will attend tomorrow at 8.45. It does not state how much is owed or is not headed letter paper, it is on normal a4 paper and states it is on behalf of Fairclough and Partners. What steps should I take and where has this come from ?
A properly completed statutory demand is a legal form (6.1 I think) and should include the amount sought and full details of the underlying debt.
If you Google it you can see if the layout matches the form you have.
As far as I'm aware there is no provision in a statutory demand for 'someone to call'.
You need to find out if what you have is actually a statutory demand or just a threat to issue a statutory demand.
If someone issues you with a proper statutory demand it may mean they intend to make you bankrupt, so you should take it seriously.
Fairclough and Partners are service/chasing agents and they may be just trying to lure you into getting in touch so they can pin you down for payment of something.
