I went bankrupt in May and I had a form last week to sign giving the OR permission to claw back any tax returns ive had, I think since I started working.
On this theme I was wondering if you can escalate an issue re a decision regarding tax rebates. I was eligible for 2 rebates, 1 for the tax year leading up to bankruptcy and accept that this amount will go the the OR. The second relates to an incorrect tax code deducting me tax for a company car that I hadn't had since the previous year. I contacted the tax office in Feb before the deduction was made, they said they had amended their system but I was still deducted incorrectly for Feb and March and it was only corrected in April despite a couple more calls to them in the meantime. The OR says this rebate is due to them but my argument is that I notified the tax office in time so it should never have been taken. It also reduces my income down from the IPO assessment that I completed and agreed with the OR. Is there any way of contesting this decision?
