hi have not asked a question in 2 years. discharged from bankruptcy 1yr ago but now being hounded by debt collector for loan taken out 5yrs ago. this was on the bankruptcy sheets. can they still ask for payment after discharge? apart from this all went very well and back in charge of finances
I am so pleased that your bankruptcy went ok and that you have come out of the other end unscathed. Some creditors do try it on and the debt for which you are being hounded would have been written off in the bankruptcy. Neither the creditor nor any debt collector has the right to pursue you. The best thing that I can suggest is that you inform the creditor of your discharge from bankruptcy and politely tell them that they are not allowed to harrass you and the debt has been written off. If this does not have the required effect, tell the Official Receiver that you are still being pursued.

If they insist on continuing to contact you then send either a copy of the original bankruptcy order as Viki suggests or a copy of your discharge.
They can do nothing to you.
