i am planning to go bankrupt as we have a joint bank account what happens to my account my wife has only about £4000 of debt and i have £14000 cant afford a iva have only about £35 left after paying bills should i close mine and leave in my wifes name as would allow all bills to come out would this be allowed olso two debts are in joint names what happens to them

Hi jim
if you want your joint account to continue unhindered then you would need to ask for your name to be removed from it before you go bankrupt.
If only you are going bankrupt then the 2 joint borrowings will become your wife's liability in full.
