i have just tried to apply for a bank account online and it came back that i was bankrupt..is it possibe for me not to know im bankrupt as i havent been to court?
if you google - insolvency register - enter the site and search "All Offices in England and Wales" - and "all courts" - click go then enter the final search details related to you personally and search
If you cannot find your details then you are not bankrupt.
It would appear that according to the credit reference agencies you are though which is where most banks would search when you apply for a new account.
If this is incorrect it can be resolved by writing to the agency.
