Two weeks to B day and I'm petrified! Can anyone offer an answer Is it probable that I will lose my car? Its nothing special, an old P reg Ford Galaxy, but at the moment I'm not working (am looking) , I have 5 kids, a disabled mother living 200 miles away, and depression and anxiety problems of my own. Without it basically I'll be stuffed. Would a letter from my GP help? How else can I put across the importance of the car?
Thanks

Oh leahk - if only I was able to have a crystal ball to show you what is happening 3 weeks down the line - it will not be anywhere near as bad as you think and to be completely honest, you will probably have the best nights sleep following the day the order is made. Many clients have scoffed at this remark but come through to me folloing the hearing to say, that yes they did and they wished they had listened to me.

Your car provided it is not of high value £3k or above is not liekly to be taken in any event let alone in your circumstances.
The OR and bankruptcy are not there to beat you over the head for getting into debt - bankruptcy is to wipe the slate clean and give you a fresh start! they will not judge - they just want to go through things with you

try to relax it will not be anywhere neqar as bad as you think

Hey Leah, as melanie has already said it will not be as bad as you are expecting it to be. I was sooooooooo scared, as im sure most people are on thr run up, however, once you come out of the court you WILL feel better. You may have your down days (it it only natural) especially after all the stress and build of for the day - you will come out the other end - I Promise You.

We are all here for you no matter what.

Hi Leah

I cannot see the OR taking your car from you due to your circumstances so I would not worry about that, but it would do no harm in getting letter from your GP for the OR stating that you would have a big problem without your car. I would do it if I were in your position. The OR allowed me up to £2000 for my car, which I think is about the norm, and I would not think a P reg ford galaxy is worth anymore than that is it?

Try not to be petrified about your bankruptcy it is nowhere near as bad as you think it will be. Since my bankruptcy on Oct 08 I feel hundred times better and I am debt free as you will be, just think about that, no one chasing you for money anymore.

I know it’s hard not worry and we all have different problems when going bankrupt. My two main worries were my car, which I kept and now I am still waiting to sort out the BI in my house, so I am still a little worried until the house is sorted.

So if it’s any consolation you’re not alone when worrying about certain matters arising due to bankruptcy. The thing to do is to try and be optimistic about the outcome of these problems and I’m sure everything will be OK.

All the best

HI Leah

We have just gone BR and as Melanie and Jenny have said it was nowhere near as bad as we imagined, at the court there was another 9 people besides us going br none of us were called in to see the judge.

As Jenny says she has up and down days we only went br on tuesday and felt gutted at first but for the first time in ages we are looking forward.

Dont get me wrong weve a long road ahead of us yet but the first step has been taken.

I am not working at the moment and looking at losing my car but will fight to keep it as losing it will restrict hours i could do, Yours seems a more deserving case than mine though.

Should find out next week in phone interview with OR.
