first I want to say thank you for all the great advice I have recived so far it has been so helpful :)

I intend to file for bankruptcy on the 30th april, have just cancelled all my payments, and am in the process of setting up a basic bank account with barclays (cash card account).

however I was wondering what I should do about my student loan and bursary payments that are due to be paid in soon (the soonist one is 24th march).
when i have set up this cash card account would the OR not like it if I changed the payment details to go into this new account? as I need these payments to go in somewhere I can access them, as they are for living expenses and rent etc.

also i have a loan with barclays that I am including in the bankruptcy, is it better not to apply for a cash card account with them? i noticed co-operative bank do one to, would I be better off applying there?
kind regards
shona

Hi there - you cannot open a new bank account with Barclays as they are a creditor (existing loan) you can only open a new account with a bank with whom you hold no debt Co-op ot Natwest Step accounts are both highly recommended account.

It is expected that people need to open a new account for DD's and pay purposes just make sure it is a basic account with no overdraft and you only transfer DD's for uti9lities housing etc and not credit cards or loans
