Hi we are in the process of going bankrupt, what maximum allowances can we put down for things for a household with a couple with one child?
Do we need to put my bank account with wages and direct debits but no debts on the form as if this gets frozen i will have no money, also it is a current account, do i need to ask if i can downgrade to step account and if i can stay with them if going bankrupt?
Should i try to pay token payments whilst waiting for court date etc and raising fees? Please help, thank you for your help in advance?

Hi there Clairefuk

If you have a bank account with no overdraft facility nor is it linked to any of your creditors, you are able to continue with this account(if you have a credit card or loan with the same bank you will need to open a new bank account elsewhere)
This unlinked account does not need to be entered onto the bankruptcy forms, but when you have your telephone appointment with the OR you should inform them that you have a bank account set up for salary etc and provide details. By dealing with things in this way you eliminate the chance of the account being frozen - if the account was listed on the forms it would be frozen, but the OR would always 'unfreeze' the account, but this can be subject to a few days delay and leave you with no access to your funds etc So i always advise clients to open an unlinked basic account transfer salary etc to the new account and not list on the SofA as this can make life a whole lot easier, but you must remember to mention the new account to the OR
Hope this helps

Sorry forgot this bit - with regard to allowances etc have a look at Skippy's blog as it contains a full list of what she had the OR accept - in the meantime the average amount for food etc for 2 adults 1 child is £400 food £50 clothing £63 school meals etc £23 hairdressing, phones satellite etc £100 pets £21 sundries £30 social £30, buti would look at Skippys blog as it has loads and loads of info - (you will find the access poin at the top right hand sideof the screeen under the telephone number)
