hello, was made BR on 30.10.09 hurray! My boyfriend has got a new job and has offered to give me a little money each month.Im not sure how to deal with it, obviously I want to bite his hand off.... but would i have to declare where its coming from to the OR I don't really want him to be mixed up in this mess. How closely does the OR watch your bank account?
does it contravene the duties of a BR to accept a gift???
thanks!

I wouldn't bother telling the OR as this, presumably, won't be the same amount each week so won't be 'regular' income.

Other people on this forum are also financially assisted by their partners/relatives during their BR so it's not unusual. If your boyfriend give you a small amount in cash each month then the OR wouldn't find out any way.

I agree with gettingoutofdebt, I wouldn't mention it. My mum and partner have both helped me a lot and I never mentioned it to the OR. To be honest, they wouldn't have done it if the money would have to be paid to the OR.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Hi Spoog,

First of the OR does not constantly monitor your bank account. Yes he will dig deep into your previous transactions, going back as far as they need to to satisfy no fraud has been committed.

Regarding the offer of money I would do as mentioned - say nothing. I am assuming we are not talking huge amounts of money of course.

Gd Luck.

Remember that you are now in a cash economy! Leave no paper trail!

No paper trail means nothing for the Official Receiver's office to follow.

All the very best,

Hi spoog1971,

I cannot add to what has been said, keep it to cash is my advice so there is no paper trail

I assume it is a relatively small amount - i.e. not thousands every month...!?

Good luck, Richard

maybe - is it on your SOA as an account you have, if so yes - safer to keep to crisp paper notes and be careful

Maybe it would be better for your partner to buy you things/ pay for things rather than give you money?

i believe pre pay cards are not proper bank accounts and as such do not need to be listed on your SOA it is only a savings card after all
