Hi kelly
depends the type of letter ?
if it is worded we might, we can, then ignore it as they will not get into court before you !
If it is a letter saying we have obtained a court judgement (you would have already received some paperwork), then I would ring and make an appointment to speak to them the day after your bankruptcy, use any excuse to buy you a weeks worth of time.
you would have seen arguments on this forum both to tell them and not to tell them, depends on who is chasing you and what this debt is for. any way you would not be able to pay them at this late stage as it would be preferential treatment.
A week before court dont answer the door

Hello Kelly
I assume you have an appointment in the court for next week?
Do not worry about the debt collectors letter - more often than not they are a bluff to jog you into paying something.
Did they say they are coming to see you? If not, definately, do not worry as the letter again is to make you pay something.
If they do make contact again before the BR, you may want to say you are about to petition for BR - that should shut them up!!
There is more than one way to look at this and others may say make contact with them yourself - For what it is worth, I would not, but that is not to say my ideas are right and others are wrong.
I think its a gut feeling and you need to think about it - only a few more days to go by the seem of it and even if they are sending a debt collector to your door, I doubt if it will be before Christmas and remember, if they do not have a court order (which I am assuming is the case) the debt collector has no authority to enter your home and does not have any right to take any goods. Be firm if there is a call at the door.
I wish you well and others will post on their advice too I am sure, Regards, Richard
