I had previously sent 3 seperate estate agent valuations in Sept last year so this just followed on.

I see.

What do you mean about John in your other post? Is he no longer around then? he was earlier.

Hi Jo & all

firstly I wanted to say to Jo that the OR's offer of purchasing the BI in your property is great news which I know will be a great weight lifted from your shoulders. I'm sure many of the members will concur that it's a piece of good fortune which is richly deserved by you and your family.

My position in respect of the forum.

Clearly there have been a number of changes recently and as in all things, change is inevitable.

I can confirm that I am no longer a voice to be heard at the end of the helpline, this baton of opportunity and privelege has now been passed on and I wish the new custodians well.

The expert list has also been revised, the most obvious change to regular visitors to date being the arrival of Melanie N from Jones Giles.
I do not know Melanie personally nor have we ever spoken, but from what I have read I believe the forum members are very lucky to have her involvement.

I have also noted Suzanne, also Jones Giles, posting a little again recently which is great as she has considerable insight and personal experience in the industry and, uniqueley among the experts, a working knowledge of the Official Receiver's office.

Before anyone suspects that this is a Jones Giles advert let me say this, it's no secret that I am no fan of IVA's which is, I believe, a principal service provided by JG. Nor have I met any one of their staff. But credit where credit is due, Melanie N is already part of the furniture and long may it continue. The more experts available across the industry spectrum the better I say.

The number of posts I have read where members have spoken to and or met Paul Johns speak for themselves I think.I have met Paul on one occasion albeit briefly, and a work colleague has known him well for some years. A pair of very safe hands and a bankruptcy man like me, so I'm biased!!!

Finally, and back to my least favourite subject, I do not wish to make any commitment that I cannot keep to. All I will say is that I plan to continue to post for as long as my professional commitments will allow, I thank Jo for her kind words, and I wish everyone on here a better future than the life they have today, however rich that may already be.

PS - This is just my personal message, and my take if you will, on the recent changes. Others may wish to raise the subject once again. For me, and from hereon in, my stance will be "no comment to make thank you" and "let's just get on with the job - do what this forum does best."

no direct translation for the words "take" or "boring" but as close as is good enough for me -

Ago vita ut plenus take vita per cornuum quod ago aliquantulus. Vel vita could exsisto(sic)boring.

Well said John,

Make sure you do keep posting, it is a shame about the helpline and you but no doubt they should be as sympathetic and understanding as those who had it before.

There has been many changes and no doubt things will be edited and deleted if its not right but take heed i am not here as much as i feel my services are not whats required anymore, i am old news and will be there when i feel i have some good news to share with those that have been with me from the start.

May i wish the forum all the best and hope that all changes that have been made have been wise ones.

No doubt the NEW experts will be there when they can and offer there legal advice and those older members will be able to offer the more empathy and understanding side of things.

Good luck.

To John

I really think its such a shame that you are no longer a voice of reason.....You are a gent and a true asset to this site and you and Jo gave me sooooooo much help, advice and guidance at the start of my journey, even at silly o'clock in the morning , and i cannot thank you both enough.

I understand there are bound to be changes, new people coming and going however, one of my theories is and always will be "no-one will know the ins and outs of br, unless they have been through it themselves" - its alot like childbirth really, you can go to all the classes and talks etc, but only know how to look after and care for a baby when he/she is in your arms.

I would like to add that people may obviously presume IVA's are going to be pushed as people from the IVA forum are coming over - i personally think that they are going to have more respect for the site, as 'we' don't go over to the IVA site and start pushing BR's. That is not what each site is about - it is about helping all those vulnerable people who dont know which way to turn next, not about touting for business.

Take care John and i look forward to your continuing posts - that also goes for Jo (but im biased hey Jo )

I would just like to add a little something to this thread.

I have 'come over' from the IVA site, as me and my husband are both in one. I don't know a whole lot about BR, and what I do know has been gleaned from the other site as a lot of people come on there to ask advice. In actual fact, if bankruptcy is the only option for someone who comes on that site, they will be advised to take that route. I had to learn about IVA's from the other site, and I hope to do the same about BR.

I will not be 'pushing' IVA's. If someone specifically asks on here, I will tell them to get advice, and don't forget that IP's will give advice on all options, including BR. What I won't do is push a particular company, and certainly won't be telling people that an IVA is what they should be going for.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

Thats exactly what i was saying - no one will come to this site to push anything as neither site will tolerate touting. However i believe certain people may believe that, as John also indicated. I do firmly believe that going though br (or an IVA) is something that only that person understands, and think the experts do an amazing job - no matter what site they are off.

I dont think it should be them and us - we are all (or have been) in financial difficulty one way or another.

I personally owe alot to this site and all its members, admin and experts such as John, Jo, Paul & Julian.

I think the key thing to remember is that any solution needs to be thought through carefully and it can only be of benefit to have folk on the site giving freely of their time in supporting others.

That means experts whith some experience of the industry and people who can share their personal experiences and give so much support to others.

Experts like Melanie, Suzanne, John, Julian and myself don not get paid for supporting the site but believe that there is a benefit to share some knowledge and experience with others.

John has been a tremendous help and support to many many people and I am aware of the tremendous job he has done. It is also worth noting that the forum provides great support to people who need help and advice at crazy hours of the day ( and night John!!)

Experiences from everyone are what will make this forum as successful as the IVA.CO.UK site.

Well done everyone , and especially Julian who I understand has worked extremely hard as spokesman over the last year in pushing the site forward.

As we are all aware this forum was set up to offer the free advice and help to those of us in need whichever boat we sail in.

I do beleive that debate is excellent and thinking of the freedom of speech and being able to put your views forward that all of us should be able to say what we like and let others add in their views to make a debate/topic better. I dont believe however that OUR posts should be added too or deleted just because someone has either taken offence or they feel they have the right to make sure others dont see/hear other things.

I have deleted one of my posts on this thread as it keeps being added to by admin, now i feel thats unfair, if admin you wish to make a point about those who run the helpline now you should have made your own post and NOT ADDED TO MINE.

I have been brought up to understand that we are all allowed to say what we think and sometimes others may not like it, but unless someone has something to hide then its not hurting anyone, that said as i have before, to the site good luck.

This is not a communist country and we are entitled to our own say, when posts get edited, deleted or locked for no real reason then we all notice, if its for a genuine reason like touting then fair enough but for genuine debate/comments then thats wrong.

This is my thoughts only on this.

I know this isn't going to be a popular decision but I am going to lock this thread as I feel that it's run it's course and some of the comments won't give a good impression of the site to newbies.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
